School Messenger
If you are receiving calls and do not have any children in the district, please email communications@sandi.net or call 619-725-5578 and leave a message. If you are a parent and have questions or concerns about SchoolMessenger, first contact your school. If questions or concerns are not resolved, please email communications@sandi.net with the subject line "SchoolMessenger."
Text Messaging
SchoolMessenger allows the district and school sites to send messages via phone, email and text message. The system is configured to send text messages to cell phone numbers in SchoolMessenger whose recipients have agreed to receive them.
Individuals will receive text messages ONLY if all three of the following requirements* are met:
- The individual opts-in.
- A cell phone number is on file with the district.
- The message sender includes content for a text message
*These requirements address any concerns related to the accuracy of the database and costs associated with receiving text messages.
How do recipients opt-in to receive text messages?
- Text the word " YES" to 67587 from each wireless device they wish to receive texts on.
- Confirm the text device number(s) are in SchoolMessenger. Note: Depending on the data synchronization configuration it may take 24 hours or more for numbers to be updated from the district SIS database.
How do recipients opt-out of receiving text messages?
Recipients not wishing to receive text messages to a particular number can simply do one of the following:
- Don't opt-in, and don't reply to the opt-in invitation message.
- Text " STOP" to 67587 at any time.
- Opt-out online at http://schoolmessenger.com/txtmsg
- Request that the SchoolMessenger system administrator add the number to the account's phone number block list.
Can the text messages come from a district phone number instead of the SchoolMessenger short code?
No, short codes are the industry standard and the only fast and reliable way to deliver mass text notifications.
Emergency Contacts
In order to better serve families, we are improving our communications by adding two additional contacts per student via the SchoolMessenger platform (email, phone calls, and text messages).
The additional contacts will receive the following broadcast types. Please note that families can opt-out of any of the broadcast types.
- Non-school hours emergency (emergency notifications sent before or after school hours)
- School hours emergency (emergency notifications sent during school hours)
- Attendance (automated attendance calls)
- Classroom messaging (teacher notification to parents)
- General (general messages including email)
- General with text (a call/email along with a text message)
- Phone only, no email (robo call only)
- Text only
- Survey (may be used by school site principal/nurse/counselor)
